Golden Buds Cake "TIME THEFT"
A 200g compressed cake of Jin Ya (also sometimes called Golden Buds).
This was a special request of our friends overseas and you know what? They crushed it (pun intended).
The tea is beautifully fragrant and luscious -- like our Jin Luo it is well rounded and viscous in the mouth, but this tea is less dependent upon a chocolatey-malt backbone and dances across your tongue. One can thank the fact this is a pure bud tea, rather than a one bud, two leaf or one bud, three leaf pick.
The cakes are pressed somewhat loosely which means that you can even pull the buds out with your fingers. I'm really satisfied with this special commission.
Varietal: Camellia taliensis
Harvested on: late March/early April 2023 (pressed in January this year)
Altitude: 2100m
Location: Lincang, Yunnan
How to brew:
It's a delicious tea that doesn't get bitter like other black teas, so you would have to try to get it wrong to not enjoy it. I did 4g in a tiny gaiwan and started at 15 seconds and added 5 every infusion for six or seven infusions and loved that. I also am currently writing this and drinking it grandpa style with about 2.5 or 3g in a 8 ounce jar.
